Written with the small letter is a screw that has revolutionized Italian industry. With a capital letter is the name of a family, the Brugola, with more than 90 years of history and successes behind and over 800 different types of vines produced only in the Brugola OEB Industriale S.p.A. of Lissone, 8 million each day. La Brugola is the fourth chapter of the project “Maybe not everyone knows that …”, promoted by Assolombarda with the aim of enhancing iconic objects of Italian industry and culture. After the “Schiscetta” of Caimi Brevetti, the first issue of the Gazzetta dello Sport, and the two trophies “UEFA Champions League Cup” and the original plaster cast of the “FIFA World Cup” of the G.D.E. Bertoni; from today until the end of November, inside Palazzo Gio Ponti (via Pantano 9), the 7 “Critical Screws” of the car engine on which Brugola has specialized its production will be exhibited. In fact, to build an engine, about 100 types of screws are needed, silks of which are considered “critical”, that is fundamental for its operation: Head Screws, Cammes Shaft Screws, Connecting Rod Screws, Flywheel Screws, Bank Screws, Crankshaft Screws , Screws Distribution Gears.

Perhaps not everyone knows that …” is enriched, moreover, of a multimedia and multisensory room that Assolombarda wanted to dedicate to the project and which was designed and implemented by Studeo group. Beginning with the exhibition of Brugola and all those that follow, visitors can immerse themselves in the history of the most famous Made in Italy objects, discovering curiosities, characteristics and the most original anecdotes of the pieces on show and their respective companies. “Through this project we wanted to make Assolombarda, which has always been the home of entrepreneurs, the place to celebrate the many excellences of Italian industry and where to live the history of our businesses in first person – said Carlo Bonomi, President of Assolombarda -. Furthermore, today we inaugurate a new multimedia space that, thanks to innovation and technology, will enrich the multisensory experience of visitors. And we are proud to do so by telling the story of Brugola, three generations of captains of industry for over 90 years of success, exemplary testimony of the great ability to innovate of our companies “. “I find it interesting and stimulating that the Brugola vine can come out of the uses for which it was invented and also become an object to be shown to the public – emphasizes Jody Brugola President of Brugola OEB Industriale S.p.A. -. The screw created by my grandfather and perfected by my father has two fundamental characteristics: high quality and a sophisticated technological content, two requirements that through our product make clear the strong innovative drive that has always moved the activity of Brugola OEB. These are aspirations that we want to convey to everyone and share as a valuable asset “. La Brugola OEB Industriale S.p.A. was founded in 1926 in Lissone as a factory of washers, special rings for engines and similar. Towards the end of the 1920s, the founder Egidio Brugola had the intuition to widen and diversify the production to the screws sector, starting almost immediately to manufacture hexagon socket screws. A type of vine that existed at the beginning of the century, but in which Egidio Brugola believed to such an extent that it encouraged the drafting of a specific standard of standardization that took him years later, in 1945, to file a patent. In 1927 mass production began and since then there has been a progressive identification of the product with the name of its producer so much that is par excellence known as Brugola lives

Over the years the company has positioned itself in highly qualified market niches, becoming one of the leaders in the Fasteners sector. The Brugola OEB Industriale plants produce 55 thousand tons of screws a year. To make a comparison, the Pirellone weighs 60. In 2011, Jody Brugola, grandson of the Founder, inaugurates the third generation at the head of the company consolidating its turnover, over 120 million euro, and building a factory in the USA. In this panorama, Brugola OEB Industriale S.p.A. it is chosen by several car manufacturers to exclusively supply the bolts of the new 3-cylinder engines. Suffice it to say that 1 out of 4 cars in the world are equipped with Allen Head Screws: this means 25 million cars in the world. Even the Apollo 11, which on July 20, 1969 brought the first men to the moon, used the Brugola screws.
